The School of Space Research (BK 21 Plus program) at Kyung Hee University invites applications for postdoctoral and research fellow positions in Astronomy and Space Science. We expect to offer two positions of one year (renewable for one or two more years contingent on performance and funding) starting on March 1, 2015. Fellows are expected to carry out original research in Astronomy and Space Science under the general supervision of the permanent faculty whose interests include: astronomy, lunar science, solar physics, and space physics.

Founded in 1949, Kyung Hee University is a well-established, but vibrantly growing educational and research institution ranked among the top seven comprehensive universities of Korea. The Department of Astronomy and Space Science, inaugurated in 1985, is located in Suwon (approximately 30 km south of Seoul), and currently has 18 professors, 10 postdoctoral researchers, and more than 60 graduate students. The information on the faculty members is available at http://ssr.khu.ac.kr/people/bkpluspeople.php.

An application consisting of a C.V., list of publications, research plan, and two letters of recommendation by those familiar with candidate’s work should be sent to yumi@khu.ac.kr by February 1, 2015. Salary will range between 30,000,000 KRW (~28,000 USD) and 38,000,000 KRW (~35,000 USD) depending on the candidate’s experience. Funds will be available for travel and other research expenses. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Astronomy or Space Science by the time of employment.
